Lawson Cars

Our projects

Our team have carried out some brilliant, varied and unusual projects through the years. Here are just a selection of the electrical design, installation and commissioning work we’ve carried out recently.

Lawson Cars, Middlesbrough
Solar PV design & installation

During our initial site visit, we were able to assess energy needs and the best possible positions for the panels.

We designed and installed a 40kw system made up of 72 solar edge solar panels.

It reduced the car dealerships reliance on the grid by 85% and the system will save over 8 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. We carried out a full handover with the client and continue to monitor the system to make sure it’s working to its full capacity.

South Shieds FC
South Shields Football club
Solar PV design & installation

This was a 92KW solar PV system consisting of 228 solar panels and a 100KW inverter. That’s enough energy to meet South Shields’ day-to-day needs, all at a return-on-investment period of less than four years.

Not all installations are straightforward and there were some important design specifications we spotted during the initial site assessment. Here are just a few:

  • We used a rail-less mounting system with waterproof fixings to minimise added weight to the roof.

  • We installed the inverter centrally to the PV system to reduce the potential for volt drop and improve system performance.

  • We used our design software to aid the G99 application to Northern Powergrid to show the system specification and layout as requested.

Easby Cottages
Easby Cottages
Solar PV and EV charging design & installation

We completed a solar and EV charging project for a series of holiday homes and houses in picturesque Easby.

Our client was keen to reduce their carbon footprint so we installed ground mounted panels, in a perfect south facing orientation, along with two 16kw lithium iron battery cubes so that excess energy could be stored.

We also installed a series of EV charging points to meet the increased demand from holiday makers with electric cars.

Stockton Council
Stockton Borough Council
EV charging design & installation

In 2021 we worked with Stockton Borough Council, installing 12 three phase EV chargers to support the first electric bin lorries in the North East.

Having assessed that the existing distribution board would not support the new EV charging points and solar panels, we also upgraded the distribution panel and sub distribution. We carried out all design, installation and commissioning so that the council had reassurance of a complete and consistent job and we’ve continued to work with Stockton Council on a number of subsequent projects.

It was a pleasure to work with the council and the Senior Construction Manager there on this innovative initiative and play a part in their carbon reduction plans. We look forward to seeing many other councils following this green initiative and more electric bin lorries on the road!

Armstrong & Ric...
Armstrong & Richardson
Security system design & installation

Armstrong and Richardson is a supplier of agricultural, equestrian and country goods. We worked with them to install a security system of 50 plus security cameras with the latest Hikvision technology. We carried out an initial site visit to assess the best points for cameras to be located before completing the full design and installation of the system. We completed a full handover, showing the client how to use the technology and operate the system, as we do with each and every job.

Fairfax Court
Fairfax Court, Yarm
Fire & security design and installation

Working across the 15 properties in the court, we stripped out the old, unsuitable fire alarm system and installed a new, high spec, fully compliant system across all properties.

Some of the businesses at Fairfax Court relied heavily on daytime footfall, including a jewellers, the post office and a hair dressers. We carefully managed our activity around their daily business to minimise disturbance.

A great example of the work we do to support businesses in maintaining compliance and safety for all.

Millbury Hill
Millbury Hill
Electrical compliance

Millbury Hill is a supplier of agricultural and country goods. We carried out an inspection and test of the electrical installations in all Millbury premises and warehouses, making sure we did not disrupt day-to-day business. We carried out the required remedial work to guarantee full compliance with the full BS7671 wiring regulations and issued all relevant certifications.

Great Broughton
Domestic site, Great Broughton, N. Yorks
Solar PV design and installation

This domestic site has a 7.5kw ground mounted system in a perfect south facing orientation, with a 20kw battery. The job was completed with plenty of hard work and muscle to prepare the clay and rock laden ground for the mounts.

The system is future proof, with a view to add a small wind turbine if necessary.

Swainby home
Home in Swainby, N. Yorks
Solar PV design and installation

We installed 6.5kw panels and a 10kw battery at a home in Swainby on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. We talked through all the available options with the client, before determining the best position for the panels on the roof with our design software. We took care of DNO applications and notifications, and have reduced reliance on the grid for this home by nearly 80%.

New build electrical furbishment

We wired a high-end new build property in Hutton Rudby to the highest spec. We worked with the client to understand their needs, before advising them on the possibilities for decorative lighting, accessories, AV and media. The result is a fantastic new home that has all the latest electrical mod-cons.
